Novelties 2021 – Geneva Watch Days

Ever since Maurice Lacroix unveiled its inaugural AIKON models in 2016, it has never stopped listening to its customers, conceiving fresh ideas and unveiling new versions of this iconic watch. Today’s AIKON collection is extensive, encompassing different colours, complications and sizes. Nevertheless, as any sports professional will attest, the secret of success is to never give up, a trait that resonates with Maurice Lacroix. Quite simply, this progressive Swiss firm never stops.

AIKON AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH SPRINT

The AIKON Automatic Chronograph Sprint plays with colours and textures, endowing the model with a very different appearance to its siblings. However, die-hard fans of the AIKON can relax, this new model still features the AIKON’s distinctive six arms straddling the bezel, the M-logo on its strap and the model’s urban styling. Put simply, the new model is fresh and sporty but respects the legend.

For the first time, the AIKON is presented in a 44mm stainless steel case dressed in matte black DLC. This coating was selected for its impressive wear characteristics and chemical resistance. In contrast, the six arms spanning the bezel are delivered in a gleaming gunmetal finish. By juxtaposing different colours and textures, the AIKON Automatic Chronograph Sprint exhibits a sumptuous appearance.

Also presented in gunmetal grey, the surface of the dial is sunray-brushed and embossed with a square pattern. The facetted hour and minute hands are lined with Super-LumiNova, aiding legibility in dim light. They converse with the indexes, once again, presented in gunmetal grey. Black counters are positioned at 6 and 12 o’clock and combine opaline and snailed detail. The dial incorporates a refreshing splash of colour with the small seconds indication at 9 o’clock presented in a light shade of blue. The addition of the snailed detail results in the subdial appearing metallic, readily gleaming with the mere suggestion of light. Lastly, the central chronograph seconds hand is also presented in blue, further enlivening the appearance of the display.

AIKON URBAN TRIBE

The AIKON Urban Tribe measures 42mm in diameter. Its engraved steel case upholds the AIKON’s reputation for ergonomic design, delivering impressive levels of wearer comfort. The sun-brushed Clous de Paris dial is equipped with luminescent hour and minute hands, a central sweep seconds hand and a date indication. All information is clearly conveyed. However, beyond its functional qualities, there is an overriding sense of style, a characteristic familiar to all AIKON owners.

Many lines and curves adorn the steel surfaces of the watch, engaging with light and delivering sublime tactility. The engraved motifs also resemble tattoos, a popular means of self-expression. Likewise, Maurice Lacroix hopes the AIKON Urban Tribe means something to the wearer, a watch that sits close to the skin and feels at one with its owner.

To the rear of the watch, a pane of sapphire crystal affords sight of the automatic ML115 calibre. This movement is embellished with circular graining, snailing and Côtes de Genève motif. The rotor is engraved with the same patterns adorning the model’s watch head and bracelet.

Whether freerunning enlivens your soul or you simply wish to enjoy city life, the AIKON Urban Tribe will prove the perfect companion.

Join our tribe - your time is now.

AIKON AUTOMATIC  –  THE LEGEND KEEPS GROWING

Building on the success of its AIKON Automatic range of models, Maurice Lacroix has enlarged its product portfolio. For example, the 39mm model is now also available with a green dial, first seen on the 42mm version. Likewise, the rosé dial that proved very popular with the 39mm case is now offered on the larger 42mm model.

The AIKON’s Easy Strap Exchange system has delighted the model’s wearers for several years. It allows the owner to easily swap a metal bracelet for a leather strap, or vice-versa, without the need for tools. Now, Maurice Lacroix builds upon this versatility by introducing a new range of straps formed of FKM rubber. This particular grade of rubber delivers superior flexibility to regular rubber, augmenting wearer comfort. In addition, FKM rubber offers greater wear-resistance and the colour is less susceptible to fading.

The new rubber straps feature a central row incorporating a Clous de Paris pattern, replicating the appearance of the dial motif. Positioned adjacent to this central row are two recessed channels which line up with the strap fixings projecting from the case. The straps are offered in a selection of colours, providing the optimal pairing for the various dial colours available. All the straps come supplied with a steel pin buckle and incorporate the Maurice Lacroix ‘M’ logo.
