AIKON Quartz Wotto Limited Edition
The result of an ongoing collaboration between the Swiss manufacturer and British artist WOTTO, whose real name is Craig Watkins, this creation transforms the wrist into an elegant miniature art gallery.
A CRYPTIC DESIGN WITH POP ACCENTS
Taking up the emblematic codes of the AIKON collection, this new design stands out by adding a touch of subtle mystery. The stainless-steel case features a gunmetal-colored double PVD treat-ment that lends it a distinctive charcoal-gray hue, in contrast to the black bezel. This monochrome palette serves as the perfect exterior for the colorful surprises that discreetly punctuate the watch within. For it’s in the details that all the poetic mysteries of this creation are revealed. The real master stroke here lies in the harmonious integration of the work from Wotto's artistic universe. On the charcoal gray dial, the artist’s emblematic characters—including skulls, ghosts and other figures from his fantastic bestiary—are revealed in a tone-on-tone print that creates striking depth.
The minute hand, decorated with a small luminescent ghost, creates an ingenious secret effect when you read the time. Combined with the absence of hour-markers on the dial, these matte black hands adorned with white Super-LumiNova ensure optimum readability while preserving the sleek aesthetic of the piece at large.
A vibrant pink seconds hand snakes across the dial, and this same pink adorns the loops on the black rubber strap equipped with Maurice Lacroix's Easychange System. The metal buckle echoes the gunmetal gray hue of the caseband.
EVERY DAY HAS ITS WORK
The most remarkable innovation introduced by this AIKON creation is its revolutionary approach to the date display. Abandoning traditional numerals, Wotto has created 31 unique drawings that follow one another around the date disc, turning each day into an opportunity for the wearer to discover a new, never-before-seen piece of miniature art.
You only need to flip the precious object over to understand the extent of the technical design of Maurice Lacroix's latest watchmaking feat. The caseback proudly displays the words "Maurice Lacroix x WOTTO" and the edition number of the piece, emphasizing the authenticity of this artis-tic collaboration, which is limited to just 500 pieces. 40 millimeters in diameter and water-resistant up to 100 meters, the case protects the renowned mechanism of the Ronda 515 quartz movement.
